Local Area
There’s more than enough to occupy most guests at Kippilaw, but if you fancy venturing further afield, there are a host of visitor attractions on your doorstep.
Choose from historic buildings, including: Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland; Floors Castle, Scotland’s largest inhabited castle; Abbotsford, the ancestral home of 19th century novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott (a regular visitor to Kippilaw in his day); as well as the ruins of Melrose Abbey and Hermitage Castle. If nature’s more your thing, make a beeline for St Abb’s Head national nature reserve, the Tweed Valley Osprey Watch Project, Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre or Dawyck Botanic Garden.
You’ll find information on these and lots of other local attractions on the VisitScotland website.
